About E Flat
During our annual summer trek to Ocean City, dinner at Fager’s Island was always a highlight. Timed carefully to include sunset and dining upstairs, we fondly enjoyed our dinner as the traditional playing of Tchaikovsky’s Overture of 1812 grew louder and louder. This painting captures the last moments of the sun, always planned to coincide with the final measures of the musical masterpiece. As guests gathered on the dock and waves crept in to the shore, I shot this photo and knew I would name the painting after the final note, a long e flat. The original now hangs in John Fager’s collection at the restaurant.
