When I cautiously confessed to Mr. Winfield that this was my favorite spot on the island but it was not on the Cambridge Beach property, he told me that I “had done my homework.” His father had built this house. I gave him the painting as a gift. On the way to Mangrove Bay, this view is nestled into overgrown but beautiful foliage and is still a spot where I pause to take it all in, shadows and sun, best in the morning. I have painted it twice.
