It was not the distant shore nor even the azure water that attracted me to this image. It was the dancing effect of sunlight and shadow on the fence as it ventured down to the beach below. I kept going back and heightening the contrast on the bare white paper with Prussian Blue and Cerulean Blue, each time thinking that that would be the final glaze…then I added “just one impossible more.”
