Birthed on New Year’s Eve again, “Old Acquaintances” looks for the dramatic in the often seen. The perspective of looking up at the verbena from below, as the branches stretched for the sky and each leaf for its spot in the sun, enabled me to capture the play of shadows both through and on the leaves held out as being served by their branches.
