About Sea Venture

Some 407 years earlier, in 1609, the original Sea Venture, a large English sailing ship, survived a four day storm and was actually thought to have been the inspiration for Shakespeare’s play The Tempest. The crew, grateful to the keen eye of Sir George Somers, set soggy foot on what was called to them “The Devil’s Islands”. Not quite as dramatic, this catamaran, beached at Long Bay as its crew no doubt enjoyed lunch at Breezes, caught my eye – with its sail eager to take off again.
