About “The Palm of My Hand”

Based on a photo of the marina at Cambridge Beaches, this offered me the chance to use a new palette of colors as well as to face the challenge of a foreground and a background that were quite out of focus. I jumped into new ways to soften edges by both carefully laying clean water on top of an already dried wash before painting wet into wet and also by coaxing blurred edges out of sharper ones with a carefully barely wet brush. The palm leaves on the left were the most fun with each leaf having its own say and spot in the sunlight..
