About “The Vertigo of Fulfillment”
Sometimes while painting, you just lose yourself…and the painting seems to do itself. The consistency of the pigment, the amount of water on the brush, even the hue and value themselves all seem to know what to do. At times like that, watercolor is a dizzying experience and you are best off to not try to interfere with what it is doing for you. I wasn’t sure how to create the sky I wanted and was even less certain in my quest to conjure up the light illuminating the palm tree trunk or the grass beneath it or how to snap the flags in the evening breeze. So, you let the brush be A Brush and you flow your affection for the island into it …and you stare into The Vertigo of Fulfillment.
